What Kani Jamawar weave is

Kani Jamawar is a woven paisley pattern from Kashmir, worked in woolen yarn into intricate floral and paisley motifs. The weave gives the fabric its warmth and its depth of colour — the pattern is part of the cloth, not printed on top. The four styles

Short winter jackets. A hip-length layer with long sleeves, made for warmth over a kurta or dress. Ours carry two outside side pockets and cloth-covered buttons.

Lapel waistcoats. A sleeveless layer with a lapel collar and a button front — the easiest way to add a festive layer without sleeves getting in the way. Note that our lapel waistcoats have no pockets, by design.

Round-neck kurta waistcoats. A sleeveless layer with a round neck, a button front with matching fabric-covered buttons, and two side pockets — cut to sit over a kurta.

Blazers. A tailored, long-sleeved layer with a lapel collar and button front, for when you want a sharper silhouette over both Indian and Western outfits.

How the sizing works

Every listing shows the chest size next to the letter size — for example, L (42) means a 42-inch chest. Sizes run from M (38) to XXL (48). Before ordering, compare your chest measurement with the flat measurements in the Sizing section of the listing you want: chest, shoulder, sleeve, length and hem are all listed there, and they are approximate because each woven piece can vary slightly.

What to check before you buy

• The weave up close. Look at the close-up photos: a woven paisley shows depth and texture, and the colours shift slightly as the fabric moves.
• The lining. Each listing names its lining colour, so you know exactly what sits against your outfit.
• The length. Short jackets and waistcoats sit at the hip; the longer jackets and blazers fall lower — the Sizing section gives the exact length for each piece.
• The size. Buy by chest size, not by the letter alone — a 42-inch chest is an L in one style and the letter to look for is always printed next to it.
